Welcome!Welcome to the British Embassy Abu Dhabi.

We provide notarial services by appointment.

We accept payments by credit card or cash. Please note that consular fees may be subject to change without prior notice.

Contact us on 02 610 1100 (from the UAE) or +971 2610 1100 (outside the UAE).

We do not deal with Legalisations/visa/passport enquiries. It is not possible to book appointments for these services.

All applications for Birth Registrations must be
made by recorded delivery or courier. Please visit our website for more information on the services we provide.

As of 1st December, the British Embassies Abu Dhabi and Dubai will only provide the following notarial and documentary services by appointment only:

• Posting a notice of marriage for marriages performed in third countries;
• Issuing affidavits for marriages performed in commonwealth countries, other Embassies, UAE Churches, Abu Dhabi and Dubai Courts;
• Issuing a letter in Standard English for no objection to adopt;
• Issuing Emergency Travel Documents

We will no longer witness signatures on documents, certify copies of passports and administer oaths and declarations for use in the UK, Europe and any country that is part of the Hague Apostille Convention. These services can be provided by local lawyers and solicitors and a list of these alternative providers is available on our website.

If you require these services for use in the UAE then you can request these services at the Dubai/Abu Dhabi notary department at the courts.

We have also stopped issuing individual letters for a British national to sponsor a non-British spouse and have notified the UAE government. You can now download this note in the form of letter on our website.

Under exceptional circumstances we can:

• Administering an oath or attesting a British national’s signature on a declaration or affirmation where evidence has been produced that the requesting authority will not accept any alternatives; and
• Certifying copies of British passports where evidence has been produced that the requesting authority will not accept any alternatives.

This can only be requested by email providing evidence and contact details of the requesting authority. If agreed an appointment will have to be made.

These changes will allow staff to concentrate on helping the more vulnerable and distressed British nationals, such as mental health patients with no family in the UAE and victims of serious assault.

ADVICE:Please ensure to book an appointment that allows you enough time to scan and email your documents in to the consular section for approval within 48 hours of receiving our notification via email. Customers who do not send their documents in by this time will have their appointments automatically cancelled. You will receive details of document requirements once your appointment has been tentatively booked.
